DVDs Now Kiosks FAQs

Q: How does the machine work?
A: Select – Rent/Buy - Swipe - Return.
Browse through the movie and game inventory. Select the title you want to rent or buy. Select Rent or Buy. Swipe your credit card and take your movie or game. Some movies will not be available for sale immediately. Check back in a few days if you would like to purchase the movie. To return a rented movie or game, select Return and place the movie or game in the return slot following the Insert Directional Arrows on the case.

Q: What are Promo Codes and how are they used?
A: A Promo Code is a discount on a movie rental. To use a Promo Code, Browse through the movies. Select the title you want to rent. Note the slot number listed on the right side of the DVD slot. Push the start button. Enter the slot number. Select Buy or Rent. Before you swipe your credit card you will see an option to enter a coupon code. Push the coupon code button and enter your code. Swipe your credit card and take your movie. The coupon code will be applied when you return the DVD back into the kiosk and the value of the coupon will be removed from you rental total.

Q: How do I get a Promo Code?
A: As a registered member you will receive promo codes via email. Please sign up as a member of our Movie Club at our website, and this will add you to our mailing list. Our website address is www.dvdsnowonline.com.

Q: How do I pay for renting/buying a movie or game?
A: The machine accumulates charges PER NIGHT, PER DVD, PER BLU-RAY, PER GAME, plus applicable tax. Your credit or check card is charged when you return the movie or game. If you are buying the movie or game, your credit or check card is charged immediately upon purchase.

Q: How many movies can I have out at the same time?
A: You can rent up to 3 DVDs, Blu-Rays or Games at the same time on one credit card.

Q. What is the deadline for returns?
A: You have up to 9pm EST the night after you rented the movie or game to return it. For each additional night you keep the movie or game you will be charged an additional night’s rental, plus any applicable tax. If you do not return the movie or game within 14 days, the credit card that you rented the movie with will be automatically charged the listed selling price of the DVD, Blu-Ray or Game.

Q: What will happen if I lose or damage the movie or game?
A: If you lose or damage a movie or game, please contact (301) 606-2880. The credit card that you rented the movie or game with will be automatically charged the listed selling price for the movie or game rented out. If only the case is damaged, please contact (301) 606-2880 and leave the DVD and case remains at the customer service counter at the store. Be sure to fill out a return information form.

Q: What do I do if the movie or game I rented is scratched or does not work upon my first use?
A: Please call (301) 606-2880 immediately. You will not be charged if you contact us before you return the movie or game. If you call after regular business hours, please leave your name and number and a customer service representative will call you back within 12 hours. Tip: Most DVDs not playing correctly is caused by fingerprints on the DVD. The oil in your fingers does not allow the light in your DVD player to read the disc properly. Many of the DVD players come with a DVD cleaning pad which is just rubbing alcohol. Use this pad or rubbing alcohol to clean the oil from the DVD surface and then wipe dry with a clean soft cloth.

Q: I rented a Blu-Ray DVD, why doesn't it play in my DVD player?
A: Blu-Ray movies only play in Blu-Ray players. They are a much higher definition DVD utilizing a blue laser instead of the standard red laser used in standard DVD players. Blu-Ray players will play standard DVDs and CDs.

Q: I rented a Blu-Ray movie, but the standard DVD is missing from the case.
A: As posted on the kiosks, all Blu-Ray movie rentals will only contain the Blu-Ray disc. Only 1 version of the movie will be rented in a case.

Q: Is my credit card information safe? What type of security protects my credit card information?
A: We use the most secure method available for transactions and all communications use 128-bit encryption. Your credit card information is not stored on the kiosk computer system. All our kiosks meet the PCI DSS Compliancy requirements.

Q: Does the kiosk issue receipts?
A: The kiosk does not issue receipts, but you can view you transaction history or download a receipt from our website: www.dvdsnowonline.com. Once you register as a member, you will also be entitled to receive special member benefits.

Q: I have a movie or game that I cannot return into the kiosk. What do I do?
A: Please verify that you are inserting the case properly using the Insert Directional Arrows. Make sure that the case contains the original movie or game rental with the machine sensitive labels attached. If for some reason the kiosk still does not accept the return, the store has a DVD check in at their customer service counter for rentals that will not return into the kiosk. Be sure to fill out a return information form.
